BLS For Healthcare Providers

At New Bedford EMS, we offer the American Heart Association BLS (CPR/AED) for Healthcare Providers course, specially designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential skills to provide immediate lifesaving interventions during cardiac and respiratory emergencies. Our comprehensive training covers CPR techniques and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for adults, children, and infants.

CPR, AED & First Aid

Our CPR, AED & First Aid course is designed to equip individuals with essential life-saving skills for both adults and children. This comprehensive training covers Adult First Aid, including general principles, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, CPR/AED usage, and relief of choking.

This course is not only valuable for individuals but is also tailored for employee training at companies, corporations, businesses, or group entities. It holds special significance for employees and designated first responders who have a duty to respond to first aid or cardiac emergencies due to job requirements.

Structured in a modular format, this CPR/First Aid course offers flexibility, making it an ideal choice for beginners seeking the benefits of group interaction and instructor feedback while learning vital life-saving skills.

Each participant in our course receives high-quality materials to enhance their learning experience, including a First Aid/CPR CD-ROM and a student workbook. These materials provide additional information on CPR, AED usage, and other essential first aid procedures, serving as valuable references for students even after the course completion.

ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Our ACLS provider course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage critical cardiac emergencies effectively. It focuses on the crucial first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest, where immediate and precise actions can make a life-saving difference.

In this comprehensive course, providers undergo training and testing in managing 10 core ACLS cases, which include:

  1. Respiratory Emergency
  2. Simple VF/VT Cardiac Arrest
  3. Complex VF/VT Cardiac Arrest
  4. PEA Cardiac Arrest
  5. Asystole Cardiac Arrest
  6. Bradycardia
  7. Stable Tachycardia
  8. Unstable Tachycardia
  9. Acute Coronary Syndromes
  10. Stroke

Our ACLS course is tailored for healthcare professionals who need to be well-prepared to respond to critical cardiac situations promptly. The training provided ensures that participants can confidently evaluate, manage, and take appropriate actions during emergencies.

PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support Training

Our PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Course is meticulously designed to enhance the level of care provided to critically ill or injured children, ultimately leading to improved outcomes. This comprehensive course is tailored for healthcare providers and equips them with the knowledge and skills required to initiate and oversee advanced life support procedures that extend beyond the scope of basic life support.

The PALS training covers all phases of stabilization and transport associated with pediatric emergencies, whether in a field or hospital setting. Participants completing this course acquire an enhanced ability to evaluate and manage infants or children facing respiratory compromise, circulatory compromise, or cardiac arrest.

Key highlights of the PALS course include active participation in a series of simulated core cases, reinforcing essential concepts such as:

  1. Identification and Treatment of Medical Conditions Leading to Cardiac Arrest in Children
  2. Systematic Pediatric Assessment, Encompassing General Assessment, Primary Assessment, Secondary Assessment, and Tertiary Assessment
  3. Utilizing the “Assess-Categorize-Decide-Act” Approach for Assessment and Management of Seriously Ill Infants or Children
  4. Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics
