911 Operations Division

New Bedford EMS is the lead agency responsible for providing Emergency Medical Services to visitors and citizens of the City of New Bedford. Deploying six ambulances staffed with Advanced Life Support Paramedics and Basic EMT's utilizing state of the art equipment that allows us to respond promptly to emergencies with a highly skilled team of EMS professionals. New Bedford EMS respond to approximately 22,500 emergency calls per year.  

In addition, a 24/7 ALS Rapid Response Paramedic and EMS Lieutenant staff two fly cars to assist and oversee the delivery of EMS services to our residents

Special Operations

Each year tens of thousands of visitors come to the City of New Bedford to enjoy our great city and its many attractions such as our festivals, large community events, thriving downtown district, historic waterfront and Parks and our great beaches. We provide medical stand by services from our EMS Bike Response unit and our Polaris ATV and other specialized equipment and vehicles to address Patients in challenging environments. 

Our special Operations Unit also assist local Law Enforcement agencies by providing EMS services in austere environments. 

Professional Standards & Training Division

The Professional Standards & Training Division is responsible for Education, Staff Development, Community Outreach and Clinical Quality Review. The Division is under the command of Captain Ryan Grasela.

Working closely with St Lukes Hospital , NBEMS affiliate Hospital Medical Director, Doctor Mathew Bivens and Assistant Medical Director Sara Morris work together with Capt Grasela to ensure our EMT's and Paramedics are offered exceptional training opportunities and that our high standards are maintained.
